Hey everyone!
Hope you have had a great weekend. Here at Hafan HQ we launched our first open mic hosted by Tommy Mills. We had well over twenty musicians, poets, dancers and singers as well as a super enthusiastic audience creating the best vibe in the cafe we have seen in ages. It was a great feeling to be doing something like this on a Sunday afternoon by the riverside as well as having a bite from the BBQ run by team Hafan.

This will be a new monthly event, happening on the first Sunday of the month.
We hope we can encourage people to come and take part and have a platform in Newtown where there is a captive audience for the arts.
Help us spread the word. It’s all about the vibe!
This coming Saturday we have a 7-piece modern jazz band from Liverpool and we could really do with your support. Even if this isn’t your thing, help us reach people that might enjoy this event by sharing it with them. A little can go a long way! Have a wonderful week ahead and see you at Hafan soon…

Jazz @ Hafan: The Weave
The Weave represents some of the finest players of Liverpool's jazz scene brought together by bandleader Martin Smith in 2012. All seven being multi-facetted musicians in their own right, their music as a band blends a diverse array of influences, from jazz icons like Kenny Wheeler and Clark Terry to pop legends like Kevin Ayres and Super Furry Animals. They all share an interest in the punchy hard-bop style and sidelong ones in prog-rock, Zappa and the Canterbury Avant-pop scene of the 1970s.
After more than 20 years on the circuit, they are by now affectionately regarded as the elder statesmen of the Liverpool scene, who have become synonymous with a highly original, energetic and soulfully kaleidoscopic fusion of ideas, which underpin their cohesive and powerful yet nuanced sound.
The Weave’s previous two albums created a great stir earning them acclaim in the U.K. and U.S.A, with Downbeat magazine listing their debut album as a top release!
