We are open seven days a week, welcoming families, local walkers, dog-owners, and anyone looking for good company. Our ground-floor café serves up homemade cakes, hearty lunches and excellent coffee, while upstairs our function room and balcony offer beautiful views and a versatile space for events.

At Hafan Yr Afon we combine café, culture and community under one welcoming roof on the banks of the River Severn in Newtown, Powys, Wales.
By day, we serve fresh, locally sourced food and drinks in a bright, dog-friendly riverside setting; by night, we transform into a vibrant venue for live music, comedy, workshops, talks and community events. Our team curates bilingual (Welsh and English) programmes that showcase both local talent and nationally acclaimed artists, while supporting environmental initiatives and inclusive projects that strengthen our town.
